IMPACT / STORY 01
Investing in people. Strengthening democratic participation.
Through my work as a Programme Manager at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Ghana Office, I contribute to initiatives that strengthen democratic governance, encourage political participation, and equip emerging leaders with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to contribute meaningfully to public life.
A significant example is my role as Project Manager of the European Union-supported Women and Youth in Democratic Engagement (WYDE) Political Parties Engagement Project in Ghana. I led the development and implementation of Ghana’s project activities, helping translate the initial concept into a programme of leadership development, mentorship, and dialogue across political differences.
The initiative brought together young political leaders from different political traditions. Participants engaged in practical activities covering leadership, political communication, policy writing, and parliamentary debate, including a parliamentary simulation exercise.
One of the project’s important contributions was creating opportunities for young leaders to build relationships beyond party affiliations and develop a more practical understanding of democratic participation and public responsibility.
My experience reinforces a conviction that guides my work: sustainable democratic development requires not only strong institutions, but also capable leaders who understand the responsibility that comes with influence.
